Move to the Mountains

Weekend 4th/5th & Monday 6th November

This was always going to be a busy weekend , and was planned like clockwork to get everything done. On Saturday, we drove to Malaga to buy 6 glass blocks from AKI for the bathroom as they would be required Monday, and went to an internet café to book flights to Istanbul for my 60th birthday in December.

In the afternoon, we drove up to the mountain village to view the flat. The house had deceptively small entrance, but was huge with three self contained units. The common hall led to a kitchen/diner and large terrace on one level, with a bedroom and bathroom on the next floor, with a small balcony with a washing machine …..excellent, and we said we would take it…….a snip at 300 € for the month.

There was some confusion over dates as we had said we needed for a month from 3 Nov …They suggested the following Friday, but then compromised on the Monday, which was a bit of problem for them, as they were living in the flat they were letting to us, and needed to move to one of the other parts of the house.

The views over the valley are stunning, with olive and orange groves, with eagles and falcons supposed to be soaring over the mountains, or so we have been told, but have only seen a few pigeons……….

Sunday was spent packing and at the coast posting the blog, and Monday checking with Tommy about the glass blocks …….where they should go, catching up on e mails, and moving to the mountains. We arrived about 4 pm and quickly settled in with 5 cats roaming around. In the evening, we explored the village and found a bar that did cheap tapas, although was very noisy with noisy locals.
